Welcome to the Asian School of Nuclear Medicine

ASNM is moving towards Global leadership!
In the Asian Region, the Asian Regional Cooperative Council for Nuclear Medicine (ARCCNM) was formed in 2000, initiated by China, Japan,  and Korea with the main aim of fostering the spread of Nuclear Medicine in Asia. In February 2003, the Asian School of Nuclear Medicine (ASNM) was formed, with the ARCCNM as the parent body. ASNM is the educational  and training arm of ARCCNM in the Region.

In its inception, Dr. Felix Sundram of Singapore became its first dean, followed by Dr. Shuji Tanada of Japan. In September 2007 during the ARCCNM Meeting in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, Dr. Teofilo San Luis, Jr. of the Philippines, took over as its third dean.  He was re-elected as dean at the ARCCNM Meeting in Dhaka, Bangladesh in December 2010.

Message from the Dean

The Asian School of Nuclear Medicine (ASNM) is pleased to welcome you to this website! This electronic channel of communication (which is being reformatted and re-launched) connects Nuclear Medicine (NM) professionals from Member States of the Asian Regional Cooperative Council for Nuclear Medicine (ARCCNM) with national NM societies and international & regional organizations. The website will allow them to follow the latest developments regarding education and training and other events happening in Nuclear Medicine within the Asian Region.

The website describes ASNM as a young organization. It lists its educational and organizational programmes and makes a report of its activities and events that have occurred through the years since its inception. It is also a repository of scientific lectures that have been delivered in different ASNM symposia and of discussions during meetings of its Academic Senate or with other institutions. In short, the website is a chronicle of events created by people who make things happen.

Asia is a vast continent and reaching every professional involved with Nuclear Medicine is daunting.  Happily, through this website, we can now reach the East and the West. As materials come in, this website shall offer a forum for continuing educational and instructional programs which can be used for the training of physicians, technologists, radiopharmacists and medical physicists involved in health care delivery through the peaceful uses of the atom. Your contributions are earnestly solicited and most welcome. Only through our partnership and collaboration can ASNM's motto “Cast a Shadow of your Influence” be made real.

Dr. Teofilo O.L. San Luis, Jr.
